Hear NAILS' vicious comeback single "Imposing Will"

Off first album in four years

Eight years on from their last full-length release, SoCal metallic hardcore veterans NAILS have announced they're in all-out wrecking mode again. The band's fourth album, Every Bridge Burning, is out later this summer, but they're previewing the release with a heavy-artillery new single called "Imposing Will."

A press release explains that the forthcoming album — once again produced by Converge's Kurt Ballou at GodCity studios in Salem, Massachussetts — homes in on "pure, relentless aggression." In the case of "Imposing Will," that means the band are going warp speed with thrashy, powerviolence aplomb, while founding vocalist-guitarist Jones' distorted mega-growl sounds like it's coming out of a neck 10 times the size of a prime-growth California Redwood.

"'Imposing Will' is special to the record in that I knew we wanted it to be the opener," he said in a statement. "We wanted it to have the effect of an urgency; an immediacy in the music itself. When you push play, you get smacked in the face."

Naturally, the band is steered by Jones, but the latest era of the SoCal force now also includes drummer Carlos Cruz (Warbringer), bassist Andrew Solis (Despise You, Apparition) and guitarist Shelby Lermo (Ulthar).

Every Bridge Burning technically follows the band's I Don't Want to Know You 7-inch from 2019, which featured a guest appearance from Max Cavalera, though NAILS' last album was 2016's You Will Never Be One of Us.

In addition to the new album, NAILS will be spending their summer touring with the likes of 200 Stab Wounds, Mammoth Grinder, Tribal Gaze, Xibalba and more. You'll find the date details beneath the tracklisting for Every Bridge Burning.
