During Metallica's Worldwired Tour, Kirk Hammett and Rob Trujillo have been playing a mid-set "doodle" at many of the dates, where they pay tribute to local musicians that hail from the city they're visiting. In Birmingham, England they honored Black Sabbath with a cover of "War Pigs," in Sweden they took on ABBA's "Dancing Queen," and Europe's "The Final Countdown," and in Switzerland they covered Celtic Frost's "Procreation (of the Wicked)," among others.
During their recent stop in Minneapolis, MN the duo give tribute to hometown hero Prince. Rob and Kirk took on "When Doves Cry," with Rob delivering some gruff vocals while he and Kirk managed to keep the grooves of the original intact. Watch their heavy take on the legend's classic above.
