Los Angeles electronic noise outfit HEALTH have released another single from their highly anticipated fourth studio album Vol. 4 :: Slaves of Fear. This latest track, "Strange Days (1999)" vibrates between chilly hypnosis and unsparing techo-laced industrial. Amid the shifting immersive sounds is vocalist Jake Duzsik's smooth, serene resonance, the guiding light in the controlled frenzy of the music.
Anxiety charges each billowing crescendo, but the anesthetic undertones of the unrelenting tempo create a uniquely meditative atmosphere in which to lose yourself to the sonic waves as they ebb and flow. "Strange Days (1999)" is a head trip, but one that rewards with its determined tranquility and persistent, resolute movement.
Vol. 4 :: Slaves of Fear drops on February 8th via Loma Vista Recordings (pre-order HERE). The band will hit New York for a sold out warm-up gig next week, January 23rd, before heading off to Europe through the end of March and circling back to the United States for a month-long run in April and early May.
