Hear Facs Channel Christian Death, Bauhaus on New Death-Rock Dirge "Primary"

Songwriting is so so so important (obviously), but so is vibe. Take a band like Sunn O))), for example, who have gotten away with writing entire songs that consist of only a handful of chords but lean heavily on atmosphere — an approach that acts as a catalyst for creating entirely unique moods. 

Facs are heavy on atmosphere and vibe, conjuring up ghosts of Bauhaus and Christian Death on their latest single "Primary," which you can hear for the first time ever above.

Made up of 3/4 of the much revered Chicago crew Disappears — Noah Leger, Brian Case and Jonathan van Herik (who ultimately left after making the record and was replaced by bassist Alianna Kalaba) — the band uses atonal guitars and muted, plucked strings for the central theme behind the track, which are complemented by odd and creepy basslines and a rolling drum underneath resulting in an overall uneasy feeling. It's queasy and distressing, and sort of like a great horror film — you can't look away even if you want to.

Cop their LP Negative Houses ahead of its March 30th release date here. Facs are supporting Suuns in May, and will hit the road for a string of east coast dates that kick off in Toronto and terminate in their Cincinnati (check the full list below). Don't miss 'em.
