'Bill & Ted 3': Watch "Excellent" First Trailer for New "Face the Music" Movie

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are back to the future

"Whoa. The wait is finally over, dudes!" Indeed, it is. Today (June 9th), the first trailer dropped for the highly anticipated new Bill & Ted movie, Bill & Ted Face the Music. The minute-and-a-half teaser sees stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reunited in action, time-traveling, facing their terrifying future selves, playing air-guitar with Death himself, and shredding faces and hopefully saving the world as the Wyld Stallyns, the greatest band of all time. Watch above.

In the new movie, our now-middle-aged heroes are tasked with coming up with the song that will save the world — and they only have 80 minutes to do so. As learned in 1991's Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, Wyld Stallyns wrote tunes that inspired a utopian society and angered villain Chuck De Nomolos in the process. In the new trailer we see the lovable duo hatch a plan to travel into the future and steal the music from themselves.

"They were told when they were teenagers that they were going to save reality, and they've been working on it the whole time," franchise writer Chris Matheson told Entertainment Weekly. "Now an emissary from the future comes and says, 'You've got to do it right now. We've got literally 80 minutes or all of reality will come to an end.'"

Bill & Ted Face the Music is due out August 21st.
