GUEST BLOG: UNDEROATH’S TIM McTAGUE

So we've been on Mayhem for about a week now, and at the beginning we knew absolutely nobody on this tour with the exception of Troy from Mastodon. It’s been years since we did a tour where we didn’t know a single member of any of the bands on the entire tour. We weren't sure if anyone would care that we were here, let alone be friendly, but thus far we've met at least one person from almost every band and they have all been amazing people. We've been doing off-day shows with the Red Chord and those dudes are freaking awesome, and a great band. Machine Head are one of the heaviest bands I have ever heard live and we have the pleasure of opening for them every day. Slipknot have been killing it every night. I think Corey is one of the most entertaining frontmen on the tour. We've also been hanging out a lot with 36 Crazyfists, Walls of Jericho, and Suicide Silence. Those dudes—and lady—are super sweet people as well. The shows have been going really well considering that we're the only not straight-up metal band on the tour. A lot of the people coming to these shows have never seen or heard of us and just kind of come over on a whim to check out whatever is going on our stage.

There's been a lot of new people that we've met saying that they just got turned on to us through Mayhem, so the tour at this point has been a total success on all levels. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the tour and what new opportunities it will bring…but more than that I can't wait until we go through Florida…I miss my wife.

Great!!!

Glad to know that even if Underoath is not a metal band they're appreciated and applauded by the audience. More power!!!

Slipknot 666

Have you had any religious conversations with Slipknot? I'm not saying this in sarcasm. I think that a conversation like that would not only be enlightening for each band but also for fans able to get a transcript copy. I wouldn't make it a video though, because then people would feel the need to act for the camera as opposed to just talking about their beliefs.
I'm agnostic myself. This would also show people that regardless of religion people can peacefully coexist. Your religious views are a night and day in contrast, but you both play awesome heavy music and are co-headlining a tour together... crazy!

See you in Jersey.
