Get ready for some high-pomp heaviness. As we already knew, film and TV composer Bear McCreary was breaking out the big guns for his star-studded, metal-as-hell The Singularity project. With the album released in full today (May 3rd), fans can now check how The Walking Dead scoresman meshes with the likes of Slipknot's Corey Taylor and Meshuggah's Jens Kidman. And it's generally symphonic and savage.
Up first is "Leviathan," a crusher on which Taylor power-hollers about the "monolith that lives deep within us." The track is a mix of orchestral, imperial death-marching and fully-dimed guitar solo bravado, with Taylor switching between his Slipknot-iest, nervous-twitch whispering and a hefty metal yell.

Kidman drops by for "Roko's Basilisk," which is a little weirder and moodier. There's some steel drum-like harmonic dissonance coursing through the whole thing, but it also gets stadium djenty with big, crunched-up hooks. Kidman runs raw with his rasp. You'll find this one down below.
As previously reported, The Singularity was put together between Bear McCreary and his brother Brendan, and features a host of guest musicians including Serj Tankian, Slash, Kim Thayil, Scott Ian, Dethklok's Brendan Small, drummer extraordinaire Gene Hoglan, Joe Satriani and many more.
The album is out now, and will be complemented by a graphic novel dropping through Image Comics on May 8th. They're also taking The Singularity to the stage on May 12th for a performance at Los Angeles' Fonda Theatre.
