Hear KID BOOKIE's new rap-metal banger "Scars"

Corey Taylor-endorsed artist offers up lead single off upcoming album

Best known for his multiple collabs with Slipknot's Corey Taylor, U.K. rap-rock artist Kid Bookie has announced his forthcoming new album, Songs for the Living // Songs for the Dead, and offered up its lead single, "Scars."

A catchy, crunching anthem about "not being able to leave when you know you should," the song arrived with a high-octane performance video. Watch and listen above.

Songs for the Living // Songs for the Dead was created with an array of collaborators, including Good Charlotte's Billy Martin, Skindred's Mikey Demus, producers Tom Mitchener (Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes), Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me the Horizon, Nova Twins) and George Perks (Enter Shikari, Skindred), as well as longtime friend and co-writer Ziey Kizzy

"A lot of this album is about feeling inadequate," Bookie commented. "There are different facets and layers of that inadequacy, and it covers most of my inadequate parts, whether that's my art or feeling inadequate in terms of love."

Speaking on "Scars," he added: "You're in a mental torture prison, and you haven't got the strength to leave. You know you should leave, but you're scared, you're hurt, and this is what the scars can make you do — people put you in mental prisons, and sometimes the only thing you have left to remember is the scars they leave."

Songs for the Living // Songs for the Dead is set for release September 13th via Marshall Records and is available for pre-order now.
